Rapid ideation
Crazy Eights, storyboards, and user journeys — diverge fast, then converge on one direction.
Good ideation has a rhythm: diverge wildly to escape the obvious first idea, then converge deliberately on one direction to develop. Synloom gives you both halves.
Crazy Eights
Crazy Eights is a Design Sprint staple: eight distinct ideas in eight minutes, roughly one per minute, quantity over polish. The whole point is to push past your first idea — usually the least original — and generate breadth fast.
Synloom runs a Crazy Eights mode on the Ideation agent: it forces exactly eight deliberately-divergent, low-fidelity concepts, laid out as a 4×2 grid that echoes the classic folded sheet. It handles the divergent burst; you and your team then do the human part — react, build on them, and vote.
Turn on Crazy Eights mode when you catch yourself with only one or two ideas you already like. Its job is to make you generate the seven you have not thought of yet.
Converging: pick one direction
Divergence without convergence is just a pile of ideas. When concepts land on the canvas, use the review rail to accept, refine, or reject them and mark one as the chosen direction — which then becomes the upstream context the MVP-phase agents build on. The Hybridizer agent helps here too: it combines the best parts of several concepts into one coherent hybrid.
Storyboards & user journeys
Once you have a direction, a storyboard or user journey makes it concrete — the sequence of steps a user takes, their touchpoints, and where the friction is. The Flow Architect agent produces user flows and journey structures (rendered as diagrams on the canvas) so the chosen concept becomes a walkable path, not just a description.
Lesson: separate diverging from converging — never do both at once
- What it is
- Crazy Eights is pure divergence (no judging, quantity wins). Picking a direction is pure convergence (judge hard, pick one). Synloom keeps them as separate moves: generate, then review-and-select.
- Why it matters
- Judging while you generate kills the wild ideas before they are born; generating while you judge means you never actually decide. Doing one at a time is what makes ideation productive.
When ideating, name which mode you are in. If someone says “but that won’t work” during a Crazy Eights, you are converging too early.
